Hello Little League Families,
Are you sad about the end of your child’s Little League experience? Are you missing that wonderful sense of community that Little League brings? Are you wondering where your child might play next season?
There is an option for your 13+ year old child to continue with Little League. You can enjoy competitive, high-level baseball, with that wonderful community feel—with less travel and significantly less expense than many of your other baseball options—all culminating in several exciting post-season opportunities.
Junior Division will be made up of Intermediate aged players (13) and Junior aged players (14). Games will be played on a 54/80 diamond, with a handful of games played at 60/90 after the May long weekend. Games will be played at South Vancouver LL, New West LL, Whalley, Coquitlam, Langley, Vancouver Island, West Vancouver and the North Shore. In order to create more balanced and competitive play for everyone, all Lower mainland leagues have agreed to run two tiered separate Junior divisions: Junior Tier 1 and Junior Tier 2. Both will have a full regular season and a playoff tournament in June. We anticipate two Tier 1 division teams and one Tier 2 division team playing out of Memorial South (SVLL). Players will be assessed on the weekend of February 29/March 1. Moto Mukai and Peter Lattimer will be coaches of the respective Tier 1 teams.
All Intermediate aged players will be eligible to try out for a D6 50/70 Intermediate all Star Team and all Junior aged players will be eligible to try out for a D6 60/90 Junior All Star team. Both will go to a Little League provincial tournament, with a chance to go Nationals and a World Series. Players born in 2007 are eligible to try out for a D6 AAA13U and AA13U All-Star team, while 2005 and 2006 born players may try out for the D6 15UAA All-Star team.
Major age players wishing to be considered for the Junior division may attend Junior tryouts. Players being offered a spot for the regular season must return to their respective Major division for all-star play. Majors aged players may be considered for the 13U AAA and AA all-star teams.
Senior Division will be played on a regulation 60/90 diamond, with home games either being played out of Memorial South (SVLL) or Queen’s Park. Games will be played at South Vancouver LL, New West LL, Whalley, Coquitlam, Langley, Vancouver Island and the North Shore. Players will be eligible to try out for a D6 team which will go to Provincials, with the possibility of advancing to Nationals and a World Series. Players may also try out for a 15U AA team (for players born in 2005 and 2006) which will compete in the Baseball BC Provincials and perhaps beyond. Other post season play will be TBD.
We look forward to seeing your child representing District 6 again next season!
