1. 2025 BCSL PLAYOFF RULES & FORMAT

  • All teams will play 4 Round Robin games from Monday Aug 11th - Saturday Aug 16th followed by a modified Double Knockout round on Sunday Aug 17th to determine 4 playoff winners (A, B, C, and D).
  • Teams in A will be ranked 1 - 5 based on their regular season record for round robin play and DKO play.
  • The top 5 teams in B will be ranked 1 - 5 based on their regular season record for round robin and DKO play.
  • The bottom 3 teams in B (6th, 7th & 8th) will be ranked first, second, and third in C based on their regular season record for round robin play. The top 3 teams in C (1st, 2nd & 3rd) will be ranked third through fifth in C based on their regular season record for round robin and DKO play.
  • The bottom 5 teams in C (removing NWO) in the regular season will form division D and retain their relative rankings from the regular season (ie; 4th place team is D1, 5th place team is D2, ..., 8th place team is D5) for round-robin and DKO play.
  • Round-robin divisions remain unchanged leading into the DKO round. Teams are re-ranked in each division according to round-robin record.  See tie-breaker rules below.
  • All teams will play a minimum of 6 games to a maximum of 10 games.
  • SPN Carded Umpires will officiate all games.
  • Players must have played a minimum of SIX regular season games for their team this season to play in playoffs and can only play on one team for playoffs.
  • The umpire will call 'time' 75 minutes into the game (grace period eats into the 75 minutes if used) and will advise that 'we will complete this inning and the next inning will be the final inning.' Games can lapse and will not impact the following game time limit. All finals will be complete games with no time limit.
During The Round Robin:
  • 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
  • Games that are tied after 7 innings will be deemed a tie (no extra innings)
  • Maximum run differential per game is +/- 7 runs
  • Higher seeded team has option to choose being home or visitor
  • Tiebreaker in the Round Robin standings are determined in this order:
    1. Greatest run differential (max +/- 7 per game)
    2. If still tied, greater number of wins
    3. If still tied, least number of losses
    4. If still tied, greatest number of runs scored (total)
    5. If still tied, least amount of runs against (total)
    6. If still tied, coin flip
During Double-Knockout:
  • Higher seed is Home except for the final where the team in the winners bracket (the team that has not lost a game in DKO) will be home.
  • Any game tied after 7 complete innings (or time limit) will enter into a tiebreaker/extra innings where the offensive team would start the inning with one out and their last batter in the previous inning on 2nd base.
  • All BCSL gameplay and bat rules apply.
  • Game balls will be provided for all playoff games. Lineup cards and scoresheets are available upon request.

3. RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL FOR BCSL PARTICIPANTS
With the recent changing of City of Burnaby Bylaws allowing alcohol to be consumed at City of Burnaby parks, along with the League deciding not to have a Beer Garden this year (Because it’s actually cost the league more money than was made in sales, resulting in a negative balance), the Executive is forwarding the following information to all Teams and we also wish you to pass this along to any players, spectators or participants.

The City of Burnaby is aware that we are not having a Beer Garden this year so expect the City of Burnaby By-Law Officers, employees (Parks Patrol) or possibly the RCMP to show up during our games at Riverway. With that being said, the COB Bylaw that covers drinking public parks is below this these opening messages.

The expectation is that all participants will follow and obey the Bylaw. Not following the By-Law could lead to players or teams being suspended/expelled from the playoffs.

The places you CANNOT CONSUME ALCOHOL ARE
  • On the Playing Field
  • In the Dug Outs
  • In the Parking Lots
  • In the Concession
  • In the Washrooms
  • In the Field House
  • On the Playground
The league recommends using cozies, containers or solo cups to enjoy your beverage and please don’t litter. Find a home for your used containers and empties or bring a bag so that the contents can be donated.
