On January 26, Brevin Gervais, defenseman 100 Mile House Wranglers, was admitted to 100 Mile House Hospital. He was then moved by a team of professionals to Kamloops where it was determined that Brevin was suffering from a brain hemorrhage. In short order he was in the operating room and went through a lengthy neurosurgery. Needless to say brain trauma must be treated carefully and with certain protocol.
We are excited to announce that day five of recovery, while heavily sedated, Brevin is opening his eyes during his wake times and recognized a statement from a caregiver for which he returned a thumbs up. Much more recovery to follow and a full statement will follow in time.
The Wranglers organization, Wrangler Nation and all of the hockey community wish Brevin a complete recovery and send best wishes and prayers to the entire Gervais family.

I had a visit with Brevin mid week to see his progress. I've been to see him 3 or 4 times now.
This visit was special. I wasn't able to get there until about 3 pm and had told Janine of my arrival time. On arrival I was informed that Brevin was waiting for me to show me how he could get out of bed and into his wheel chair. Amazingly, with just a little help he did it. A week ago raising his hand for a hi 5 was a big deal.
As Brevin sat in his chair, truly proud of his accomplishment, Janine said Brev had a message for his team mates....."WIN". A smile, a sneer and the pure look of determination followed.
He is speaking very well, eating while not solid food, food and taking on calories. He has a host of specialists helping him daily and is looking forward to a trip to the gym.
Brevin's training his body for a big outing. His intent is to be at game 3 in Kamloops.
So the road to recovery is long but this young man is staring down that road with great intent and no fear whatsoever. Good on you Brevin, you are an inspiration to everyone you have touched and really everyone in the hockey community!
