On Aug 28 Choice Parts, down 2 games to none in a best of five, won 3 games to reclaim the championship from 2015 champs Old School. Congratulations to John Rosenmiller and all of the Parts!<p>Ageless (84-year-old) Jack Oppenheim became the oldest player to getr a hit in a playoff game on Aug 14. He broke his own record.<p>Old School won its 2nd consecutive regular season pennant. <p> Congrats to Mike Peckins + his team for winning the 1st annual cancer fundraising tournament at the Brooklyn Cyclones Stadium in Coney Island. The event was organized by former BASL manager Dio Jackson. <p>Nick Ross and Mike Peckins, who have been with Empire + Choice Parts in recent years,  will be forming an new team named Dylan Murphy's. <p> Empire, Rangers and the Brooklyn Braves have folded.<p> The later dates of the 2016 playoffs: We will be off on Sept. 4 for Labor Day and  on Sept 11 because Heckscher is closed that day. We hope to resume at Heckscher on Sept 18. Great Lawn + North Meadow softball will close for the year by Labor Day as Jeff Marcus learned while attending the Conservancy/ Parks Dept meeting at North Meadow on March 2. <p> Commissioner Jeff Marcus is the author of the 2016 Football Trivia Daily Calendar by Workmen Press that's available in bookstores now <p>
