Friday, September 13th the Posse travelled to Sicamous to take on the Sicamous Eagles in the first regular season game of the 2019-2020 season. After an extended delay to the start of the game, the puck was finally dropped at 8:40 PM.
The first period saw choppy back and forth action as both teams settled into the rythem of the game. Sicamous drew first blood as Trysten Brookman redirected a high shot by Posse goaltender Jaysen MacLean.
Through the second and third periods the Posse carried the majority of the play, showcasing this seasons upgraded defense core and the overall speed of the club. The sustained pressure finally allowed the Posse to get on the scoreboard when Tyler Stinchcombe finished a smooth passing play from Brendan Adams for the first goal of the season. A power play maker at 3:17 of the second period.
With all the pressure the Posse brought late in the game they were only able to solve the stellar goaltending of Kolton Dodge that one time. The game would need overtime to find a winner when a fortuitous bounce sprung Sicamous forward Julian Fodor free on a breakaway, a nice inside out move and a shot ended the night for the Posse.
Final Score: Sicamous 2 - Princeton 1 OTL
