FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM OSIRIS CAPTAIN
CARMEL, IN | 4/26/19 --
Over 6 years ago I was asked to captain a team in the C League. With a C League Captaincy comes great responsibility thrusted on to the shoulders of very few people in history. One of those small, but very important responsibilities is to name your team, typically after a beer. That’s why they call it beer league I think...that's up to history to figure out. Regardless, without hesitation I was ready to pay homage to my favorite brew at the time, Sunking Brewery’s Osiris.
What started as a C League team blossomed into a hockey empire. Osiris eventually expanded to tournaments and took home the Light the Lamp Championship in 2017. Osiris played for the C2 Championship in the summer of 2016 losing to Iron City in a shootout. Additionally, Osiris has earned 4 Toilet Bowl Championships and was a runner up 5 times. That’s 9 total toilet bowls.
Osiris has always been dedicated to the mission of league camaraderie. While I understand the significance that Osiris has on so many lives, especially to those associated with the GIAHL, it’s time for a new era to take hold. I have always valued the enjoyment of simply getting to play the greatest sport on the planet over anything else, obviously including winning. Over the years it’s no secret that my team has used Upland Tap Room as a pre and post game gathering destination. $2 pints for God’s Sake (RIP, they’re now $3). It’s for this reason, in the 2019 Summer Session, Osiris will officially be retired and Dragonfly will continue Osiris’ mission.
In this historic but exciting point in C League history, we as an organization ask for your support and privacy during this transition.
