Aldergrove Kodiaks 5 / Mission City Outlaws 2
The Aldergrove Kodiaks kicked off the 2020 Brittain Conference Finals by taking Game 1 by a score of 5-2 over the Mission City Outlaws.
Carson Preston got the Kodiaks ahead with an early goal at 2:52. Lucas Thompson managed a weak shot down low, but Mission goaltender Daniel Zuvic left an open rebound for Preston who fired it home. Tyler Cannon later doubled the Kodiaks lead 2-0 at 15:58 of the first.
Mission got on the board in the second period at 11:03. Justin Plett walked in for a shot that seemed to have been held by Kodiak netminder Dylan Black. The puck trickled into the crease and was pushed in on the doorstep by Dylan Stoltz to cut the deficit to one. This proved to be the lone goal of the middle frame.
Aldergrove piled on more goals midway through the third period with Preston managing his second of the night at 9:36 and captain Ty Pickering going bar down on Zuvic at 13:35 to make it a 4-1 lead. The Outlaws did get a short handed marker at 16:39 from Matthew Konrad, but that was as close as they would get. Cobe Dean tacked on an empty netter with ten seconds remaining in regulation to seal Game 1 for Aldergrove.
Brittain Conference Final : ALD leads best-of-7 series 1-0.
