STEELERS MAKE COACHING STAFF HIRES
- Submitted by

BURNABY (May 27th, 2020) - The Grandview Steelers have announced the hiring of Jim Camazzola as head coach and David Boyce as assistant coach for the 2020-21 season.

Camazzola spent the last two seasons with the Vancouver North East Chiefs. In 2019-20, he put together an impressive 30-10 regular season record as head coach of the U18 AAA team. In 2018-19, he was head coach of the Chiefs’ U16 AAA team. From 2011 to 2018, Camazzola was a key member of the SFU Men’s hockey program as an associate coach. He has also coached in the Italian Hockey League and in the PJHL with the Delta Ice Hawks. As a player, Camazzola made a brief appearance in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks and has spent time in the AHL and overseas in Europe.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge here with the older kids,” said Camazzola. “I’m excited with quite a few returning players from last season and looking forward to the opportunity. Coaching allows me to give back to my community that has given so much to me. I have a lot of experiences to share with and to help develop the kids.”

“Jim is a proven and experienced coach,” said Steelers General Manager Aldo Bruno. “He knows how to work with and manage young players. We’re confident that he will be able to continue our strong hockey traditions and success. We are really excited to welcome Jim and his family to the Steelers organization.”

David Boyce was most recently a Bantam and Midget head coach with the Port Moody Minor Hockey Association, and guiding their Bantam “A” team to four consecutive provincial appearances. Previously, he was a coach with the Burnaby Winter Club (BWC) working with Bill Hunt and leading their Pee Wee teams to four consecutive provincial championships. As a player, Boyce donned the Steelers jersey from 2006 to 2008 and played his minor hockey with BWC.

“I am super excited about the opportunity to coach at the junior level for the Steelers,” said Boyce. “I loved my time here as a Steelers player. I have a lot of friends there, a lot of stories, and I am looking forward to working with Aldo Bruno once again.”

“I am thrilled to bring back Steelers alumni David as a coach,” said Bruno. “His track record with Port Moody’s Bantam and Midget teams shows that he is effective at teaching the game to young players. We are excited to bring in his energy back into the dressing room.”
