Sask Rugby announces new Coach Apprenticeship Program

We are pleased to announce the start of the Saskatchewan Rugby Union Provincial Coaching Apprenticeship Program. Saskatchewan Rugby Union has an opportunity to select a number of female and male coaches as apprentices for the 2012 season.
Just like with our athletes, it is essential to train and develop our leaders. The purpose of the Saskatchewan Rugby Union Provincial Coaching Apprenticeship is to provide male and female coaches with a practical and integrated major national games experience. Selected coaches have direct involvement in preparation and competition and receive support from an identified mentor coach throughout the duration of the program. The Apprenticeship will also work toward the Evaluation for Introduction to Competition Certification. This program will help individuals gain experience and knowledge to bring out the best in their coaching ability.
Below outlines the Provincial Program
Attend U16 and U18 Boys Provincial Training sessions June 3, 10, 17, 24, July 29
Attend U16 and U18 Girls training sessions June 3, 9, 10, July 7-8
Attend Boys games July 2nd, 5th 18th and 21st. These games will be against UK touring teams to be played in Saskatoon and Regina.
Attend Girls Notre Dame Camp July 10-12
Attend the Prairie Championship in Edmonton July 13 – 15, 2012 for U16 and U18 boys and girls
Attend National Festival Aug 6 – 12, 2012
4 weekend camps Dec, Jan, Mar, April 2013
We are well aware that some of you can’t commit to all the above, this is not an issue but please identify your availability on the application form.
Below outlines the process on how to participate in the program:
Email deanmurten@saskrugby.com prior to June 15thto indicate your interest in participating in the program;
If interested in participating, complete the attached Provincial Apprentice Coach Application
A provincial review committee will then review all applications of coaches to participate in the 2012 season.
