Due to COVID-19 and the continued restrictions the VIJHL is under from Public Health, viaSports, Hockey Canada and BC Hockey, the league is still working towards determining a start date for the upcoming season. The VIJHL Governors and Executive will be making a decision early in the fourth week of August as to what this date might be. Any date selected is completely dependant on what the “state of the world” is at that time and an specific date decision may have to be pushed into the future until more information is received from our supervising bodies.
Teams have been hosting mini-camps for evaluation and roster selection so some “normal” activities have been taking place at a team level under their new COVID-19 protocols.
Stay tuned as we all wait anxiously to see when Junior Hockey on the Island can get underway again!
“Jordan (Neufeld) played his best hockey of the season over the past six weeks,” says Comox Valley Glacier Kings’ Head Coach, Jeff Dubois of the VIJHL Player of the Week (February 17-22). “On top of being our top offensive player, he brings a physical presence and puts in a lot of work on special teams. He was the driving force in our win on Monday over Campbell River and has scored a number of big goals this month.”
