2024 season starts on Sunday, April 21, 2024. The schedule is released now!!

All current players should log into their accounts, and navigate to the registration page. All players need to register before playing their first games!

Anyone who doesn't belong to any team and wishes to join the league, please fill "Free Agent Registration Form"

The 2024 TRYOUT has been scheduled on Sunday, April 7 at 4PM

Location: Central Park, Burnaby
(Entrance on Kingsway and Inman Ave, beside Patterson Skytrain Station)

Tryout is FREE - there is no charge to try out for the league. You will have the chance to meet the team captains during or after the tryout at the field.

Try-outs will be broken into 5 phases

• Warm-up and stretch: (20 minutes)
• Infield (30 minutes): Tryout players will be stationed at each infield position. One or two members will hit a typical infield drill. You will be given an opportunity to switch positions for another round.
• Outfield: (30 minutes) Players will be stationed at the three OF positions and will be hit by a combination of fly balls and line drives/grounders. 
• Hitting: (50 minutes) One player will hit and one will be on deck at any given time - the remaining players will shag in the infield or outfield and will rotate into the on deck position as players finish their turn batting. One member will throw BP. Each player will get 2 bunts and 8-10 swings. We will divide players into several groups.
• Pitching: (20 minutes) Players who do not wish to try out for pitcher or catcher can stick around and chat with the team captains or feel free to leave. Players who wish to try out as pitchers, will throw ~15 pitches in the bullpen with a league ball. If there is a tryout catcher with his own gear, they will catch. We will have catchers gear available to those who haven’t had a chance to bring theirs. If not, a league member will catch. 

After the tryout, VRBL will have a draft among the teams in the following week. And the tryout players will be notified by email if you get drafted. Here are some rules about our draft.

• Draft pick order is based on season record in 2023.
• This process would be conducted through ongoing rounds should the demand for players be intact for each team and the supply of players warrant the option. 
• The un-drafted players will be put on league's spare list
• Players entering the draft will be informed that they are required to play for the team that drafts them for the upcoming season. They cannot change teams during their first year of play. Following the completion of their first season, the drafted player can choose to play for another team or re-enter the draft.

The first annual VRBL All-Star Game was a success on Sunday, August 27 at Queen's Park Stadium. Players from Athletics, Badgers, Blue Dreams, Brewers, Legends and Spykers participated in this unique and fun competition. Congratulations to Tyler Bird (Brewers) winning the M.V.P. award!!


 

The VRBL's 2023 Championship Game took place on Sunday, August 27 at Queen's Park Stadium. The VRBL's 2023 season ended with a classic contest between two outstanding teams. Gunners edged Spitfires by a 4 - 2 score.
