Bobby Calabrese
It is with great sadness that I regret to inform you, Bobby Calabrese, a member of the Benders hockey team and the ETR front desk staff passed away unexpectedly on Thursday. I first met Bobby when he began playing for the Benders in our men’s league a few years ago. One of my favorite memories I have of Bobby was watching him score the game winning goal in a shoot-out, not bad for a kid who had only been skating a few years (his face was beaming the whole night in the lobby after). Bobby encompassed the spirit of the Benders team, always smiling and laughing on the ice no matter the outcome of the game and never forgetting to have fun. Sunday nights will not be the same. Off the ice and in the ETR lobby he was no different and when he asked if there were any job openings available we knew he would fit in perfectly with the ETR family. And to nobody’s surprise, he proved us all right.

Never hesitating to stay later or come in earlier and always lending a helping hand where he could. His enthusiasm for his work, smile, and witty personality made our busier segments more manageable for the staff and customers alike. Bobby never had a bad day at ETR and neither did any of us when we were behind the counter with him nor the customers on the other side of the counter. Please keep Bobby's family in your thoughts and prayers. http://obits.masslive.com/obituaries/masslive/obituary.aspx?n=robert-calabrese&pid=183951865&fhid=14979

Reminder sent to all "B" & "C" Team Reps
Jersey Numbers Remember by the fourth game, all team jerseys ought to be in by now and each skater should have a number on their jersey independent from their teammates (no duplicate numbers). Any player without a number on their jersey will be sent off the ice until they have a number on their jersey. We have a limited number of pinnies that are red and on the small side as a last resort at the front desk. Tape is not acceptable as a number.

Rosters Since it's the summer and the summer session is more relaxed rosters will freeze on game five. A team may roster up to 21 skaters. No player/goaltender may play more than a division apart and a maximum of three players from a higher division may play below a division (with league approval). Any player/goaltender playing down a division must have league approval before playing. If ynour team needs to adjust its roster, please begin that process.

"C" division has been realigned for parity. There has been a lot of player feedback about stacking rosters and the league shares those concerns. Please be mindful, while winning is a consideration, it's not the only consideration. As the Fall/Winter seasons, teams may be asked to remove players for parity reasons. The objective to having multiple divisions is to help ensure more parity among teams and to provide a place for players of all skill levels to play. While some teams may belong in a lower division, the league is not going to conform to teams with rosters loaded with players from a higher division. If necessary, those team will be asked to remove players or may be moved up a division and any players playing for multiple teams will need to choose one team. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Players on the Ice with the Zamboni

No player may enter the ice while the Zamboni is on the Ice Surface

I apologize if this comes across as flippant or strident, but I really shouldn't have to keep posting this, most of you have been skating here since you were three and know this has always been the rule. As a guest in someone's house you'd respect their rules (or at least I hope you would), please respect our policy. It seems to be the same players and teams we have this problem with, if losing ice time doesn't work, we'll start sending the offending players to the locker room, no refunds.

Due to a growing problem we have had this past season, this rule will now be strictly enforced. . No player *including* goaltenders shall enter the ice surface until the z door is closed. It has become a safety issue, an ice quality concern, and the pucks pose a hazard to the zamboni. If there is any violation of this policy the timekeepers have been instructed to begin running the game clock and your ice time will begin at that time. Your time will *not* be added back. Please be mindful this also affects your opponent's ice time as well, so please be respectful and make sure your players know and abide by this rule.
