Les Cones Playoff Hopes Melt
Its back to the drawing board for Les Cones as they recieved the final nail in their Playoff coffin Monday Night dropping the opening round series 3-1 to FHL's Top Seed and FHL Cup favourite Les Rayons.
A reset saw the baby Pylons pick up several familiar faces and add some new blood to the group .... The task now is choosing their core for Season X ... There will be some tough calls leading into the winter however there is some comfort in knowing that they hold the 3rd selection in the FHL Portion of the 2022-23 Draft.

INSECTS EXTERMINATED
Another day has come and gone ... and so has another team as the TIP INSECTS fell to the rival Fishsticks in Game 4 and were ELIMINATED Thursday Night.
A not so memorable 2-12-1 regular season was followed up with a gutsy playoff performance in a tight series that really could have gone either way. Sometimes you just run into a hot goalie at the wrong time. The Insects were able to take advantage and put together a late year push under the guidance of Co -Capos Eustace Harvey and that bodes well for the future. The team should benefit in Season X from securing the rights to veteran Alex Trottier as well as securing #1 pick in the FHL Portion of the Draft.

The Iceholes have clinched the Founder's Cup for the 2020-2021
as a result of Monday Night's Les Phoques victory over Les
Castors. The Polar Beers now sit with a record of 10 - 2 - 1 with
two games remaining. The Founder's Cup is awarded yearly to the
BHL Squad that tops the regular season standings. This is the 3rd
win in Franchise history for the Holes.

Les Pylones will finally see the season debut of reigning BHL MVP Alex
Polozov who has been sidelined since July with an upper body injury. After
accounting for 62% of the Red Machine's offensive output in 2019-2020

losses (1) GAA (2.37) he has continued into the postseason

Castors Draw First Blood
Les Castors (1-0) shook off some rust as they debuted in the
Frozen Lake Conference Finals vs Les Phoques (2-2). The Beavers
climbed out of a hole after falling behind 3-1 on the strength of
Seals forward, Scott Henry's Natural Hat Trick. Despite being
badly out shot Les Castors completed the comeback and take the
series lead 1-0 with Game 2 set for Tuesday.

Top Cheese (1-1) came out as a much different Team in Game 2 of
the Backyard Conference Final as they collected a 4-3 win over a
shorthanded Iceholes (3-2) club in the 2019 Hockey House Playoffs.
The teams will now enjoy a decent recovery period before hitting the
ice in a Matinee on Sunday March 10th for Game 3 .

Many thought the impact of Joel Rindelaub shifting from the
crease to playing forward would have been a rocky transition.
Rindy had other plans though, as he won the Shooting Star

Flanders led all BHLers in Goals (18 - tie), Game Winners (4),

Toe Dragons forward Peter Oikin has been reassigned to the
the teams FHL affiliate. He will dress in the Frontyard for
the first time in his Hockey House career when he debuts

BHL Officials (LtoR) Ian "Wanny" Wannamaker &
Cam "Punchy" Green joined newly minted Hockey House
Head Official Eric "Dewy" DeWit to deliver the first clinic for
on ice officials in the History of the BHL. Nearly 20 players,
Coaches and team representatives showed up to
participate in the 3 hour session which included recapping
the BHL's Rulebook, principles of maintaining control of a
game and followed with an on ice session. Part 2 of the
Symposium kicks off in November.

After last weekend's NZIHL game, FHL President Justin Daigle sustained a pretty significant injury to his head. After being rushed to the hospital, he has shown good improvements as he continues his recovery in the comfort of his friends and the New Zealand Ice Hockey Community. Richard Cowsill, the hard nosed Iceholes defenceman
earned his first and only appearance in the Backyard Cup
Finals. Known as Cowbell, Richard is the only remaining
Icehole from the inaugural season in which he was selected

First Overall Draft Pick - Jordan Challis named BHL Playoff MVP
Jordan Challis ripped up the scoring table during the
2-month BHL Playoffs notching 21 points in just 7 games
including the cup clinching winning goal. Selected first
overall in the BHL draft, Challis paid dividends helping the
Holes to not only reach thier first Cup Final but win it in the
process.

Sauce trailed 3-0 after two periods and came thundering
back to take a lead 4-3. After the Roosters tied it to send it
to OT the Sauce completed the comeback with a goal in
the 19th minute of the extra frame ... To become the first
ever Frontyard Cup Champions !!!

Fischer Named MVP after 5 point peformance in Game 5
Edmonton native Kurtis Fischer helped guide the Sauce
through the playoff landscape but saved his biggest
performance for Game 5. Kurtis led the Sauce to victory
with 4 third period points and added another apple in OT to
help seal the victory !!!

Andy Hart & Lucas Betts were each handed one game
suspensions last week for thier part in the melee that
occured with 6:35 remaining in the 3rd period of a pivotal
Game 3. Both players will be unable to participate in Game
4 Tuesday Night as the Iceholes look to clinch thier 1st
ever Backyard Cup.

The Les Phoques franchise clubs got back on track as both teams in each final pulled out Game 2 victories. First the Roosters used an extra frame to earn the win over Sauce in a thrilling Overtime win. The big brother, The Seals then shutout the most potent offence in the BHL Playoffs with a 2-0 win. Both Series now sit tied 1 - 1 with Game 3 on the horizon Thursday Night.

Sauce & Iceholes Draw First Blood
Thursday was an incredible night of hockey as both second
ranked teams took 1-0 leads in thier respective FHL / BHL
series. The Sauce knocked off 1st place Les Coqs with a
grinding 2-1 OT win. Then the Iceholes dispatched of the
1st Ranked Les Phoques with a 4-3 win. Games 2 & 3 go
this coming Tuesday & Thursday with a scheduled 7:15p

Seals join Roosters as franchise reaches the final in both leagues !!
Less than two weeks after thier FHL Affiliate Les Coqs
qualified for the Frontyard Cup Finals Les Phoques gained a
berth into the franchises first ever Backyard Cup Final. The
Seals eliminated Les Pylones with a 6-3 vicory Monday
night taking the series 3-1.

Hockey House president, Cam "Punchy" Green was given
the opportunity to fufill a lifelong dream this past week
when he took to the ice with FHL Affiliate, SAUCE. He was
able to skate alongside the man who helped develop his
passion for the game, his father Kelly. Pops notched 1
point in his Hockey House debut and helped the Sauce win

Phoques Seal the Deal
Les Phoques (9-3-2) secured the wildcard bye and a berth
to the Frozen Lake Conference Finals Thursday Night. Led
by captains Rob Moon & Aaron Somerville, the team's 7-5
win over Top Cheese allowed the Seals capture the
franchise's first Founder's Cup as the BHL's Top Team in
the regular season.

Chamberlain to be honoured in 2017
Congrats to Top Cheese forward Robert Chamberlain, who
decided to hang up his NZIHL skates this summer after 10
years with the West Auckland Admirals (8 as Captain).
It was officially announced last night that at a home
game for the boatmen in 2017 his # 12 jersey will be the
first ever in the Admirals history to be retired and raised to
the rafters of Avondale Arena !!!
