Penny Kroll joined Rugby Canada in April 2010 as Fund Development Manager. Her responsibilities included fundraising events, managing donor based programs, establishing a customer management system and creating new fundraising opportunities. During her time in that role, Penny launched an events website to highlight fundraising events and has also been instrumental in the launch of the Maple Leaf RFC. Penny has now taken over the Business Development portfolio for Rugby Canada and now manages elements of fundraising, sponsor servicing and event ticketing.
Penny has been working with non-profit organizations as a fundraiser for 25 years. Most recently she worked on the Community Involvement Team at SickKids Foundation where she founded the Kids Believe in Sick Kids Program; a youth fundraising program which raised over $1.2 million in five years. Penny has also volunteered for many local non-profit organizations across Toronto, including the Brazilian Carnival Ball, the Hospital for Sick Children United Way Employee Campaign, the Speech Foundation of Ontario and the York Region United Way in Markham. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Toronto and is certified as a Health & Safety Representative in Ontario.
Prior to coming to Canada in 2001, Penny worked at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce in the state of Vermont for 17 years. There she was also a Notary of the Public and Certified Independent Producer for a local television station. Penny also enjoyed volunteering for great causes in her hometown including the United Way of Rutland County and the Vermont Special Olympics.
While new to rugby, Penny has some previous experience in the sports community, specifically in the area of stock car racing where she worked as Media Director and Race Official at the Champlain Valley Racing Association and as a Freelance Writer for NASCAR Public Relations. She was also a Pit Crew member of Bad Boys modified stock car race team from1988-1998.
Penny currently lives in Thornhill, Ontario.
