Dear Prospective Athlete,

Beach Handball Canada is inviting you to identify yourself as a prospective player for the national team. 

This is a new program!  We are looking for athletes who possess transferable skills to beach handball.  Whether you come from indoor handball, other beach sports or any other athletic background, we are looking for athletes who want to accel and represent Canada. 

Our men’s program launched in 2022 and is already ranked 6th among 14 nations in NACHC, the North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation.  
Our women’s team is launching now to begin competing in 2023. 
We believe both the men and women can be top 2 in NACHC as we move through the 2023-2025 competitive cycle.

International beach handball titles are listed below with each of these competitions having a qualification tournament on some beautiful beach court in our qualification zone, NACHC.

·         10th IHF World Beach Handball Championships (June 2024 – Host: Asia)
·         12th World Games (2025 – Potential Host: China)
-         US National Beach Handball Championship - June  2024 (Michigan, USA)
-         CBHC Canada Cup : Sylvan Lake - July 2024 (Sylvan Lake, Canada)
-         SoCal Cup : California - Aug  2024 (Huntington Beach, USA)
-         CBHC Canada Cup : La Praire - August 2024 (La Prairie, Quebec)
-         NACHC Beach Handball Championships - September 2024 
 

In addition to these key competitions, there are tournaments throughout NACHC and the world which we may use for preparation are looking to build a base of 20 players in each gender creating a base group with international experience.  Commitment for players include:

·         Winter training every second month at indoor beach facilities (Calgary is our current facility available mid week)

·         Weekly cross training with your other sports

·         Summer training every month at local beach courts

·         Indoor training sessions cost approximately $50-$60 or are included in the tournament cost.

·         One to three international tournaments each year at a cost of $1200 - $2500 for out of country competitions but much less when we host a competition

·         All cost can be reduced based on fund raising and sponsorship

·         Players are not necessarily expected to participate in each and every competition
