Titans Wellness Program

Toronto Titans & Toronto Wolverines Wellness Program

The Wellness Program was developed and implemented with the Toronto Titans by Dr. Jonathan Ross and Eric Cella in 2014. The program was developed to ensure every team within the organization has a certified and qualified trainer on their bench to optimize player safety. Each trainer has qualifications beyond the standard first aid and have completed training as an Emergency First Responder. They have experience with athletic taping along with concussion return to play protocol through Holland-Bloorview. Trainers are responsible for managing any injuries or medical emergencies that arise and make the appropriate referrals when required. They facilitate open communication between players, parents, coaches and medical providers to ensure all injuries are being managed appropriately and players are returning to play in a safe and timely manner. They also facilitate a guided warm up prior to each game to reduce the risk of injury. The program has expanded to include the Toronto Wolverines and is now managed by Dr. Thea Zacharia who has been with the organization in this position for the past three years.
