The Beaver Valley Nitehawks are committed to developing young hockey players to be the best that they can be in all facets of their life focusing on education, skill development, leadership, fitness, and personal growth.

2010-11 Season in Review

 The 2010-11 year was an excellent season and was a return of the Nitehawks as a potential contender for the KIJHL title.  A second place finish in the tough Neil Murdoch division, and 2^nd round playoff knockout behind eventual league champion Castlegar Rebels is always disappointing however a great season nonetheless.

The Nitehawk season featured many highlights including Dallas Calvin winning the MVP at the KIJHL Allstar prospect game, and Ryon Sookro, Ryan Edwards and Derek Lashuk representing the team at the allstar game.  As well, Dallas Calvin was named the “Rookie of the Year” in the Neil Murdoch division, and Ryon Sookro was named the overall Most Sportsmanlike player of the entire KIJHL.

Based on their seasons some Nitehawk players have made commitments for next season.  Defenceman Ryan Dixon was called up to the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL, Dallas Calvin has committed to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL and captain Colton Donselaar has verbally agreed to play for the SAIT Trojans of the ACAC.

Coaching Staff

General Manager/Head Coach

Returning for his 16^th year with the Nitehawk organization is GM Head coach, Terry Jones.  Jones has had a long distinguished career as a player and coach.  As a player he was a member of the 1983 Memorial Cup winning Portland Winterhawks, was a member of Canada’s National team, a two time winner of the Spengler Cup, graduated from the University of Calgary while playing for the Calgary Dinosaurs of the CIS, and concluded his career as a player coach in the German professional league.  As a player, was coached by some of the finest coaches in hockey today former San Jose Shark George Kingston, former Vancouver Canuck associate coach Mike Johnston, and current associate coach of the Dallas Stars Wil Desjardins.

Jones’ coaching career is punctuated with winning being a part of 3 BC championships, 5 KIJHL Championships, numerous division championships and 2 Cyclone Taylor Championships.

Jones is a high school math teacher at JL Crowe Secondary school in Trail, is married to wife Loretta and twin sons Kellen and Connor attend Quinnipiac University of the ECAC.

For Jones the Nitehawk motto is “Hard work is what we do”.  Jones demands that all players give their best every day and conduct themselves with respect and class at all times.  This is the Nitehawk way.
