ROCKETS, CLOVERLEAFS GAIN UPPER HAND
The Brandon Cloverleafs walloped the Brandon Marlins 12-1 on Tuesday night to snag a 1-0 lead in the best of five MSBL semi-final series.

Kevin McNeill and Kyle Nixon led the way with two RBI each.  Nixon was 2-for-5, while McNeill also scored twice.  Jeff Neufeld singled, doubled, and walked.

Sean Dryden earned the win.  He scattered six hits over six innings and then three relievers combined to blank the Marlins in the seventh, eighth, and ninth.

Cody Nevins took the loss.  He gave up nine runs, five earned, in three innings of work.  He also walked five and struck out three.

Kyle Turner had two doubles and Mitch Stephens was 2-for-3 to pace the Marlins at the plate.

Meanwhile, Reston defeated Neepawa 9-0 in a whacky affair that ended in the top of the third inning when the Farmers suffered some ejections and were unable to field a team for the rest of the game.

Game two in that series is on Friday in Neepawa.
