Weeks 9 and 10 of the Sportime dek hockey season are in the books. Here are the highlights.
Dek “Platinum”
-On Nov. 13, two goals apiece from Rob Mentz and Brian Mentz helped lead Sundown to a 6-4 victory over Lockdown. Kevin Hennessy also had two assists for Sundown in their win.
-On Nov. 15, Rundown came out on top 2-1 in a defensive battle against the Bingers. Josh Rose had the go-ahead goal for Rundown in the game’s second period.
-Joe Rando was the overtime hero for Lockdown this past Monday, as the team came away with a 5-4 victory against Rundown. Darren Stevenson scored a late goal in regulation to force extra time.
-The Bingers won big last Monday night, defeating Sundown, 8-0. Alex DeLuca had a hat trick in the contest, and teammate Rich Schwartz had a three-point night.
Dek “Gold”
-Three goals and an assist from Scott Tiedemann helped the Chiefs take down the Cosmic Hippos by a 6-2 final on Nov. 12. Goaltender Ron Kohler made 20 saves for the Chiefs in their win.
-Chris Collins helped the Top Cats scratch out a 4-3 victory over EZ2-4U on Nov. 15, by delivering a game-winning overtime goal. Collins and teammate Phil Connolly both had two points in the contest.
-The Cosmic Hippos saw their offense wake up in a big way on Nov. 15, as they defeated the Renegades by a 9-1 score. Rich Schwartz had a hat trick for the Hippos, while teammates Chris Russo, Bryan Zash, and John DeWitt also he registered three points.
-The Chiefs wrapped up their regular season with a win on Monday, downing the Renegades, 6-1. Mike Tuccillo led the way offensively for the Chiefs, with two goals.
Dek “Silver”
-Two goals from Rob Mentz and a 19-save effort from goaltender Anthony Basile helped CTP put together a 6-1 win against the Baymen on Nov. 12.
-Two goals apiece from Jason DeCunha, Phil Connolly, and Kevin Hennessy carried the Smokin Aces to a 6-1 win over the Pros on Nov. 13.
-The Avengers finished their season on a high-note last Sunday, defeating the Baymen, 5-4. Devin Bowen was the star of the game, with a hat trick and an assist. Bowen also delivered the overtime game-winning goal.
-Working Overtime will enter the playoffs as the top seed in the Silver division, following a 6-1 blowout win over Bombsquad last Sunday. Jake Dunn, Stephen Gager, and Dan Vehlies each scored twice in their team’s win.
-The Smokin Aces defeated CTP 4-0 on Monday to secure a spot in the Silver playoffs. Rob Jentz came up big in net, turning away all 20 shots he faced.
Dek “Bronze”
-Chip Knott had a night to remember on Nov. 12, scoring half a dozen times in the Evo-Chargers 8-3 win over the Rabid Squirrels. Knott also assisted on a goal, giving him a seven point night.
-Mike Basile and Tom Seyfnia each score twice and assisted on a goal in Sniper District’s 4-2 win over Blue Ocean on Nov. 12. Jon Krolik picked up the win in net, making 20 saves.
-The Evo-Chargers continued to roll on Nov. 13, defeating the Horseheads, 4-1. This time it was goaltender Anthony Vitelli providing the spark for the Chargers, as he turned away 20 of the 21 shots fired in his direction.
-Phil Fulgieri finished with two goals and an assist in Young Blood’s 4-1 win over the Puckhedz on Nov. 13.
-Sniper District picked up a 6-3 victory over the Puckhedz on Nov. 15, thanks to two-goal nights from Mike Basile, Mike Ferraro, and Ed Hoschler.
-Young Blood is now playoff bound, after defeating the Rabid Squirrels, 4-1 last Sunday. Rocco Buffolino had two goals for Young Blood in the contest.
-The Horseheads wrapped up first place in the Bronze division with an 8-4 win over the Puckhedz last Sunday. John Matasa was one of the biggest offensive standouts for the Horseheads, finishing with a hat trick.
-Blue Ocean looked sharp in its regular season finale, defeating the Evo-Chargers, 4-1. John Murphy made a big offensive splash for the Ocean, with two goals.
Dek “Emerald”
-A pair of second period goals from Jeff Pongratz helped lead Screwed to a 5-3 victory over Blackout on Nov. 12.
-The Survivors took over in the second period against the Jagr Bombs on Nov. 15, scoring six times in the final 16 minutes to win 8-3. Dan Blank was the game’s high-scorer, as he finished with a hat trick and two assists.
-Two goals and an assist from Pete Lauer gave Blackout the boost they needed to come away with a 5-1 win over Your Mom’s Pool Boys on Nov. 17.
