The Okanagan Lakers are back in action for the final time in Kelowna before the Christmas break, hosting Simon Fraser University. The Lakers are 1-2 in BCIHL action and are looking for redemption after a 5-2 loss to SFU on October 30th.
The Lakers, while losing captain Adrian Van de Mosselaer (Ontario Reign, ECHL) to injury earlier in the semester have added some support in a mid-semester pickup of Thomas Pattison (Nanaimo Buccaneers, VIJHL).
A Lakers win and a Mariners loss, who take on UVIC on Friday, would move the two teams into a tie, two points behind SFU for the BCIHL lead.
SFU is coming off a pair of wins over VIU and are looking add some breathing room atop the BCIHL standings. SFU has been short-staffed with a number of early season injuries, but the return of captain Mitch Ledyard (North Van Wolfpack, PIJHL) has brought some relief.
