NTFA Summer League - Week #5 (Jul 12, 2021)

NTFA Summer 2021 League Game #5 is Monday, July 12, 2021.

Captains for this week are Ethan VanPatten - Blue (848-609-0720) and Landon VanPatten - Red (848-609-0720).  Rosters are posted.  Landon's team (RED) will arrive early to set up boards.  EVERYBODY SHOULD BRING A RED AND A BLUE JERSEY IN CASE OF ROSTER ADJUSTMENTS DUE TO DROP-INS OR NO-SHOWS.

Schedule:

7:00 - 7:30 pm:

Arrive, setup, drop-in team assignment, warmup.  Red team is assigned rink setup, Blue team responsible for rink cleanup.

7:30 - 7:50:  Training Topic - Penalty Shots

7:50 - 8:00:  Warmup, game prep, final rosters submitted

8:00 - 9:15:  Game (3 x 20 min)

9:15:  Cleanup (Blue team puts away boards/nets)

Week #5 Training Topic:

Penalty Shots.  Why are they awarded?  Basic rules - who can take, where do you start, what you can/cannot do - player and goalie.  Strategies - player and goalie. Be ready to participate at 7:30.

Our last game was as tight and competitive as we've seen all Summer.  The score was 2-2 after the first period, 3-3 after the second and 5-5 at the end of regulation. Red scored in O/T to earn the victory.  Matthew Yonai had 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist), Sean Hickey and Dan Torretta each scored two and Sean's nifty goal in O/T was the game winner.  Both goalies played really well.   Alex Gross took the win for Red with 29 saves on 34 shots against.  Ethan VanPatten stopped 24 of 30 shots.  Remember, since we change teams each week, the team name listed for a player on the stats page reflects the current team assignment and not the team where points were earned.  Since goalies are listed on both teams, their stats show up for each team and are not combined.

If you haven't registered for summer league, no problem.  Drop-ins are encouraged.  Pay only $10.  Be sure to check in at the scorer table as soon as you arrive so we have time to get you rostered for the evening.
