Township of Langley, BC (Friday, January 9, 2015) – If they haven’t already, the Langley Rivermen (20-14-1-4 = 45) and Chilliwack Chiefs (22-12-1-1 = 46) will become very familiar with each other as they faceoff three times in the next three days starting tonight at 7:00PM at the Langley Events Centre.

The Rivermen were in action last weekend coming away with a split against the Coquitlam Express, each team winning on the road. The Rivermen defeated the Express 6-1 in their first game back after the holiday break. The following night Langley was unable to complete the sweep falling 4-3 at the LEC. Gage Torrel scored four points (3g, 1a) and Evan Anderson also notched four points (1g, 3a) last weekend.

“I was happy with our overall effort in both games,” said Head Coach and General Manager Bobby Henderson. “We had the opportunity to jump into the first place, it didn’t happen but we get another shot this weekend with three important games.”

Torrel continues to lead the team in scoring with 47 points (19g, 28a) in 38 games, while Captain Kevan Kilistoff sits at 43 (17g, 26a) in 38 games.

Langley trails the head-to-head matchup 2-1. The Rivermen won the first meeting but have lost the last two including a 4-3 overtime loss in the most recent bout on December 3 at Prospera Centre.

“They've got more depth this year,” said Henderson. “Top to bottom, they have a well-balanced roster, they do a good job of moving pucks up, clogging the ice and their goaltending is really good. It’s an exciting matchup.”

Coming into tonight, the Chiefs have lost three in a row, twiceto the Surrey Eagles. Chilliwack is 9-9-1-1 on the road while the Rivermen sport an 11-7-1-1 at home.

The two teams will play again Saturday evening in Chilliwack and conclude their weekend with a Sunday 2:00PM matinee matchup in Langley on Family Skate Night. After the game, fans will be able to skate with the entire Rivermen team. You can bring your own skates or rent them at the LEC.
