Week 18: Five teams clinch playoff positions

Five teams have earned their ticket to the six-team SCWHL Provincial Championship Tournament next month, clinching a top-six finish in the league standings after games played in Week 18.
The Kamloops Vibe remained in first place after a pair of shutout victories over the Island Surge at the Langley Sportsplex. Vibe netminder Ashley Fisher stopped a combined 30 shots to earn the two shutouts, raising her season total to a league-leading six.
The Vibe won 7-0 Friday night, getting goals from Katy Thorne, Emily Edmundson, Kathleen Cahoon, Michelle Morrison, Jenna Ormondy, Rochelle Smith and Sarah Botter.
Kamloops posted a 1-0 triumph Saturday evening, with Allison Aie netting the goal. The Vibe fired 52 shots at the Surge net, but Sydney Akai-Platt made 52 saves for the Island.
The Surge were blanked again Sunday afternoon, falling 5-0 to the Meadow Ridge Moose, also at the Langley Sportsplex. Kirsten Langston, Alanna McMullen, Jade Zamprogno, Emily Bajkov and Emily Jude scored for the Moose, with Megan Buchanan making 21 saves for her second shutout of the season.
The Moose clinched a top-six finish and a playoff position with the victory, as did the South Fraser TNT with a 3-2 decision over the Richmond Devils Saturday evening at Planet Ice - Coquitlam.
Taralynn Suzuki scored twice to lead the South Fraser scoring, with Michelle Zeigler netting the winning goal and Claire Wong and Shea Weighill contributing two assists each.
Emily Costales and Ashley Specht tallied for Richmond, in sixth place in the standings, 10 points ahead of the Surge and Burnaby Mountain Capitals with seven games remaining for all three teams.
Sunday night at Planet Ice – Coquitlam, the Fraser Valley Jets clinched a playoff spot for themselves and the idle North Shore Rebels, blanking Burnaby Mountain 6-0.
Lindsay DiPietro scored four goals and assisted on a fifth to pace the Jets attack. Chelsea Wilson and Katrina Ratner also scored for Fraser Valley, with Stacy Wilson making 30 saves for her first shutout of the season.
The SCWHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition was staged Saturday morning at the Richmond Ice Centre. Skills Competition winners were:
Fastest skater: Jenna Fletcher (Kamloops Vibe) – two laps in 16.34 seconds.
Hardest Shot: Michelle Ziegler (South Fraser TNT) and Sarah Botter (Kamloops Vibe) –  105 kph.
Shootout Goalie: Meagan Buchanan (Meadow Ridge Moose) – eight-of-nine saves.
Accuracy Shooter: Alisha Choy(South Fraser TNT)– four-for-four in 23 seconds.
