Rebels, Devils qualify for the semifinal round

The North Shore Rebels became the first team to qualify for the semifinal round at the Tourism Hope / SCWHL Provincial Championship Tournament.
The defending champion Rebels edge the Fraser Valley Jets 3-2 in the first of two games Saturday night at the Hope and District Arena. Cassidey Bell had a goal and an assist for North Shore, with other goals coming from Avery Hutton and Megan Taylor.
Amanda Christie netted one goal for Fraser Valley, and assisted on another tally by Lindsay DiPietro.
North Shore assured themselves of a top-two finish in Pool A. The Jets will face-off against the Richmond Devils Saturday morning, needing a win to advance to the final four. Richmond needsd only a tie to advance, and eliminate the Jets.
The Richmond Devils became the second team to guarantee themselves a game Saturday night, when the Meadow Ridge Moose tied the Kamloops Vibe 3-3 in Friday night’s second game.
The Moose took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Brie Bellerive and Alex Hendrickson, but the Vibe responded with goals from Jenna Fletcher, Gaylene Scott and Rochelle Smith for a 3-2 advantage with seven minutes left.
Sydney Kreps tied the game with five minutes left to play.
Kamloops finishes the round robin with a loss and a tie, and will need the Devils to defeat Meadow Ridge by two goals or more Saturday morning to get to the semifinal round.
