Masson massive for Riv in BCHL POW performance

Langley Rivermen forward Zac Masson has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 20, the league announced Monday.

Masson amassed two goals and three assists in helping the Rivermen to three wins in as many nights in the absence of top goalscorer Justin Fregona and starting goalie Bo Didur.

The native of Newmarket, Ont. assisted on the tying goal leading to an OT win Friday over Powell River and followed up the next night with the game-winner and a helper in a 5-2 win over Coquitlam where he was named the game's 1st Star. Masson capped his week with a 3rd Star after another goal and an assist in a 5-1 victory over Prince George.

Barriga produced when it counted most as he started the week with the game-winner in a three-point outing, a 5-2 win in Vernon where he was 1st Star. He tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-2 home win over Penticton and wrapped the week with another goal against the Vees to force OT in an eventual 4-3 double-overtime road loss.
