Week 21: Rebels overtake Vibe for first place

A pair of wins by the North Shore Rebels has moved the defending provincial champions into first place in the SCWHL standings after Week 21.
The Rebels edged the South Fraser TNT 4-3 Thursday night at Moody Park Arena in New Westminster, then blanked the Burnaby Mountain Capitals 2-0 Sunday evening at Planet Ice – Coquitlam. The four points moved the Capitals past the Kamloops Vibe in the standings and atop the eight-team SCWHL.
Jess Sibley scored once and assisted on the other three goals to lead North Shore to a win over the TNT. Elexa Pokozdy, Jasmine Manhas and Karmen Mooney netted the other goals for the Rebels.
Shea Weighill with two goals and Alisha Choy with one scored for the TNT.
Nicole Charlton tallied both goals and Cassidy Hendricks made 28 saves for her third consecutive shutout in the Rebels win Sunday night over Burnaby Mountain.
With Tracey Chang scoring twice and assisting on one other, the TNT defeated the Fraser Valley Jets 6-4
Sunday afternoon at Planet Ice – Delta, a result that left the two teams tied for fourth place.
Choy, Weighill, Steph Strymecki and Claire Wong also netted goals for the TNT, while the Jets got goals from Amanda Christie, Lindsay DiPietro, Jackie Lang and Chelsea Wilson.
Christie scored twice and DiPietro added a single in a 3-3 tie between the Jets and the Meadow Ridge Moose Saturday night at the Langley Sportsplex.
Emily Bajkov, Sydney Kreps and Emily Jude were the goal scorers for the Moose. Bajkov also had a pair of assists.
