To be the place to develop their hockey skills as well as their life skills, because of what we stand for, because of what we offer to players, coaches/instructors and parents, and because we care.
Why was The Hockey School Program Developed?The HP Hockey School Program was development because of the current program offerings such as the Community House Leagues are more based on the focus on recreational hockey for all. Though they do have competitive programs they do limit participation based on a child’s age regardless if the child is capable and able to compete at that an older age level.
Another issue is that those that have excelled with the community-based program have no choice to seek private development because the community-based programs are not challenging enough, the coach to player ratio is too large, and the on-ice instruction is conducted by mainly volunteer parents that may or may not have been trained on how to teach.
The main issue with the private development offering is that they are drop-in sessions that don’t have a set, consistent attendance or curriculum. Therefore, learning progression is not consistent.
The Hockey School Program has been developed by people who have been in Hockey Development and Coaching at House League, AAA and Junior Level for over 25 years. The Curriculum Plan has been developed by a teacher who has also Played at the Junior Level as well as coached for over 10 years at the AAA level.
