The Choice Parts, once trailing the best of 5 series 2-0, sweep both games on 9/14/14/ 7-1 and 4-3 to repeat as BASL champs. The Parts win their 12th league title, increasing their own league record. They made it to the Finals in their 1st BASL season (1980) but lost. They earned their 1st championship back in 1986. Congratulations to Mgr. John Rosenmiller and his squad.

First -time Finalist Empire beat defending champ Choice Parts in the 1st 2 games on Sept. 7, but the Parts won game 3.

Empire swept Cardinals in 1 semi while Parts beat Ironbound 2 straight on Aug. 24 to get back to Finals.

Berl Jones Jr. held a dedication ceremony at the Berl Jones Sr. + family Memorial (3rd base) Bench at Great Lawn #5 on Sat. Aug. 23. The late, great Berl Sr. was 1991 BASL Manager of the Year leading No Excuses to the championship.

Ironbound and Cardinals advance in Round 1 of the playoffs

Jack Oppenheim played the full game in RF in the Cardinals' 2nd game victory on July 27, He becomes the oldest player in league history to play an entire game, at age 82.

I'm very sad to report that Alf Siegel, one of the founders of Choice Parts, has died suddenly of a heart attack in mid-January. He was the team's original 3rd baseman and managed the Parts to several division titles in the early 1980s.

Marc Rosenthal passed away on November 13. He was a substitute player with West's 2007 championship squad and more recently has been an umpire, working with the Lower Manhattan Coed League that plays on the fields next to ours. His presence at the park will be missed
