TNT top Moose to remain undefeated


 

The South Fraser TNT are the lone unbeaten team among the five Lower Mainland teams in the SCWHL after handing the Meadow Ridge Moose a 5-2 loss Saturday night at the Langley Sportsplex.

After a scoreless first period, the TNT exploded for four goals in the second period, with Michelle Ziegler, Tracey Chang, Shea Weighill and Carlyn Shimizu finding the net. Emily Grainger added the fifth goal fir South Fraser in the third period.

Darcy Henderson and Ashley Long tallied for the Moose, which lost for the first time since opening the season with a pair of victories.

The Fraser Valley Jets moved alongside the Moose atop the SCWHL standings with two wins and a loss in three games played with a 6-0 victory over the Richmond Devils Sunday afternoon at Planet Ice – Delta.

Chelsea Barron and Melanie Jue netted two goals each for the Jets, with Alannah Kedra and Natasha Steblin adding one each. Stacey Wilson made 32 saves for her first shutout of the season, and 25th in 147 regular season and playoff games since the 2013-14 season.

The Devils were on the short end of a 6-1 loss to the North Shore Rebels Saturday night at the Richmond Ice Centre.

Nicole Charlton registered the first hat trick of the SCWHL season to pace the Rebels. North Shore also got a pair of goals from Cassidy Bell and a single from Justine Johnson.

Stefanie Costales tallied the lone goal for Richmond.
