Lambton-Kent Ladies Fastball League 2025
1. PLAYER LISTS AND ENTRY FEES
1.1 The League will commence play starting on May 5, 2025 with the scheduled regular season to the end on August 1, 2025. The schedule will be a home and away game with every team and then a mix of home and away for another 7 games. Each team will be required to pay League fees of $TBD per team. Insurance is required and certificates need to be sent to Taryn and Bonnie but the responsibility of getting insurance falls on each individual team. League Fees will be made payable to Lambton-Kent Ladies Fastball and mailed to: BONNIE SITZES, 564 Valentina St, Petrolia N0N 1R0.
REGISTRATION, ROSTERS & PROOF OF INSURANCE is due by May 5, 2025. If not submitted by this date your team will not be able to play in the 2025 season.
1.2 Changes to the roster will only be accepted until JUNE 30th. All players are required to play a minimum of 5 games during the regular season to be eligible for the playoffs. Exception to the above mentioned will be those players that become injured during the season (injured players should be reported to all team reps) or those that are pregnant at the beginning of the season.
1.3 The League has no minimum age requirement. Age requirement will be at the discretion of the individual clubs. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE PLAYING IN THE LEAGUE WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ADULT.
1.4 Each team is allowed to sign a maximum of 20 players. Teams will not be allowed to use any player that does not appear on the team roster and who has not been insured.
2. RULES AND REGULATIONS
2.1 Unless otherwise stated herein, Softball Canada Rules shall apply.
2.2 ALL SCORES will be turned into Taryn Charbonneau and Bonnie Sitzes after each game is played and notification if games are being rescheduled. The home team should be sending the score and will be the score of record. This can be done by email or text.
2.3 There will be a 15 minute grace period for starting a game. If a team is unable to field 8 players after this time, they will forfeit the game. A team may start or finish a game with a minimum of 8 players. The ninth batting position in the batting order will be skipped and will NOT be an automatic out.
2.4 If a team needs to reschedule a game, a minimum of 24 hour’s notice must be given by phone; to the opposing team (only exception is in the event of a death). In the event of a team needing to rescheduled, the home team will provide 2 suitable alternative dates within a weeks time of the originally scheduled game. These dates will be emailed to all team reps including the teams affected. If the cancelled game has not been rescheduled prior to the next time the teams meet, the second game will be for Double points.
2.5 Games will be 7 innings in duration. In regular league games, ties will not be broken.
2.6 During the league playoffs, if the score is tied after 7 innings, the tie shall be broken.
2.7 MERCY RULE – If after 3 complete innings of play one team is 15 runs ahead or if after 5 innings one team is 10 runs ahead, the game is over. This applies to the 6th and 7th innings as well. If a different run differential is desired this must be agreed upon by both teams at home plate prior to the start of the game.
2.8 If a time limit (curfew) is in effect at any park, it must be made known before the start of the game by the home team.
2.9 The home team shall arrange to provide 2 umpires. The umpire doing the plate should be carded or have been carded in the past. (therefore, having knowledge and experience umpiring baseball)
2.10 If a double header is played, the time limit and/or number of innings will be decided by the two teams playing. Both must agree.
2.11 Teams will have the choice to bat nine and use OSA rules or use the unlimited substitution rule. Each team must declare their intention at the beginning of the game to the umpires and opposing coach/team, and play that way for the entire 7 innings.
2.12 Unlimited substitution rule: late players are to be added to the bottom of the batting order when they arrive. If declared at the beginning of the game that a player is injured and can’t run, a courtesy runner will be allowed. The injured runner will only be able to advance to 1st base. If a player gets hurt or must leave the game for a sufficient reason, which is confirmed with the home plate umpire, their name will be deleted from the batting order and will not be considered an out. Once that player is removed from the batting order, they cannot be re-inserted into the batting order.
3. FORFEITS
3.1 Forfeits must be reported immediately to all team reps, please do your best to ensure you play all your regularly scheduled games. If a team forfeits more than 3 games, a $50 fee per game forfeited thereafter shall be in place and made payable to the league.
3.2 If one team is not able to field a team, at the appointed game time, a forfeit shall be declared and the offended team shall pay for the umpires. For the Championship Tournament, the fee shall be payable to The League.
4. RAINOUTS
4.1 "When possible", the visiting team should be notified 2 hours in advance of a game time by telephone to the coach or manager of the visiting team due to inclement weather.
4.2 Rain-out games will be re-scheduled as soon as possible. TRY TO GET THESE GAMES PLAYED. YOU WILL PLAY A DOUBLE POINT GAME THE NEXT TIME YOU MEET THE TEAM IF NOT RE-SCHEDULED BY THEN.
4.3 If a game in progress is rained out, after 5 complete innings, it shall be considered a complete game. Please note once a game has started the only person who may call a game is the Umpire, no exceptions.
5. PROTESTS
5.1 The protest committee will consist of all the team reps. Any team involved in the protest will not be allowed to vote on any decision.
5.2 All protests must be submitted in writing (this includes e-mail) no later than 48 hours after the protested game was played to all teams reps and must be accompanied by a $50 protest fee, only to be refunded if the protest is successful.
6. RULES OF CONDUCT
6.1 All ejected players/coaches, for whatever reason, must be written in the scorebook and initialed by the umpire. When the home team sends in the score, the ejected players name will also be added.
6.2 Penalties for Ejection i) Swearing – 1 game suspension for the first offence and a 3 game suspension for the second offence. ii) Fighting or intent to injure – shall result in indefinite suspension to be determined by the League reps. iii) Abuse of umpires – any abuse of any umpire during, before or after the game will not be tolerated and said player/coach will be subjected to action of the League reps.
6.3 Any player/coach put on report by umpires cannot participate in any future games until his/her case has been reviewed by the team reps.
6.4 Any player/coach or team that breaks any League Rules or who abuses, in print or otherwise, umpires or Team Reps shall be subject to discipline by the League.
6.5 Team reps and team coaches may write a report against players or coaches for unsportsmanlike conduct, mischief or abusive language.
7. EQUIPMENT AND PLAYING REGULATIONS
7.1 No bare feet and no metal cleats!!
7.2 The home team is responsible for supplying 1 new ball and 1 good ball for each game and they must be the same colour and the same brand/type. These balls are to be C.A.S.A (Softball Canada) approved.
8. LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
8.1 The preliminary tournament games will have a 1 hour and 45 min time limit with a 10 run mercy rule after 5th or 6th inning. The Championship game(s) will be played for a full seven innings with no mercy rule. If tied after seven innings, the teams will play an additional 2 innings. If the game is still tied after nine innings, the “International Tie Breaker” rule will be used.
8.2 The year-end tournament will be double knockout and held at Courtright ball diamonds on August 8-10, 2025. Schedule to be sent out at a later date.
The teams will be seeded in accordance to the final regular season standings according to the order on the web page and if required a natural break will decide the teams going in the A and B divisions. If the number of team participating in the playoffs is uneven, the 1st place team shall receive a bye in the first round. Then 2 vs 6, 3 vs 7, 4 vs 8, 5 vs 9 The home team in the first round of play is determined according to seeding and thereafter by a flip of a coin before the start of each game.
8.3 There will be no infield taken during any playoff game. |
