Three-time defending KJHL champion Peguis Juniors are back in the finals ready to defend that title. They face the regular season winner Cross Lake Islanders in a best-of seven series starting Monday.
It was a up-and-down regular season for Peguis Juniors (12-15-0-1) which included three forfeit losses over a weekend where it could not put enough healthy skaters on the ice. Peguis arrived to the finals after hard-fought five game series with the OCN Storm. Juniors lost the first two games only to comeback and win three straight including a overtime victory in Game 5.
Cross Lake Islanders (21-6-0-1) cruised through most of the season and that dominance continued in their first round sweep of Norway House North Stars.
With Peguis set to host this years Keystone Cup Border Battle the Islanders have already clinched a berth to the tournament. Before the teams get there another trophy is on the line. Four more wins will see the winner raise the Baldy Northcott Trophy.
KJHL Finals schedule
Game 1: Friday at Peguis
Game 2: Saturday at Peguis
Game 3: April 3 at Cross Lake
Game 4: April 6 at Cross Lake
if necessary
Game 5: April 7 at Cross Lake
Game 6: April 12 at Peguis
Game 7: April 14 at Cross Lake

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
As the President of the Keystone Junior Hockey League, ahead of the start of a new season, I would like to acknowledge all of the hard work of the KJHL Executive Board, all of the team Governors, General Managers and Coaches on a job well done these past couple of seasons and the importance of keeping Junior Hockey alive and well in the North for our younger generation. The level of competition each team brings makes for exciting hockey, and any team can beat any team on any given night. We are excited for the start of a new season!
