West Coast Senior Hockey League: WCSHL - About

The Bud Light West Coast Senior Hockey League is a high-caliber amateur senior league made up of four teams in Newfoundland and Labrador. Each year the Clarenville Caribous, Corner Brook Royals, Deer Lake Red Wings and Grand Fall - Windsor Cataracts battle through a 24-game regular season to determine the playoff match-ups.

The playoffs consist of the semi-finals, best four out of seven, with 1st place of regular season playing 4th place and 2nd place playing 3rd place. The winners of the semis face each other in a best of seven series for the West Coast Senior Hockey League championship.

The winner then advances to play the winner of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League in a best-of-seven series for Newfoundland and Labrador's top hockey honour - the Herder Memorial Trophy. Read about the Herder History here.

The League is run by a volunteer executive, which consists of President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Public Relations Director, as well as representatives from each of the four teams.

The 2008-09 regular season begins on November 8th and runs until February 8, 2009. Semi-finals begin on February 13th and the finals beginning around March 6th, 2009. The Herder is scheduled to begin on March 28, 2009.
