ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

The 2018/19 Comox Valley Glacier Kings are entering their 26th Anniversary Season as a proud member of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. The team is based out of the Courtenay, B.C., located in the Comox Valley. With an area population of over 70,000 the valley offers a multitude of recreational opportunities and facilities ranging from breathtaking scenery to hiking trails, ski resorts and quality golf courses.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings play out of the 1400 seat arena at the Comox Valley Sports Centre where they won the 1993-1994 VIJHL League Season Championship. In 1994-1995 the Kings won the VIJHL Playoffs and went on to compete for the Cyclone Taylor Cup (Provincial Crown). 2009-2010 the Glacier Kings were the VIJHL North Division Playoffs Champion.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings Organization is looking for highly motivated and intense players with physical and technical attributes, mental toughness and self confidence with unequalled work habits. With these qualities the coaching staff will develop a winning tradition and provide a positive environment for the hockey club.

The goal of the program is player development while also icing an extremely competitive hockey club. The coaching staff will do its utmost to develop and move players to the next level, be it BCHL, WHL, or even university programs.

LEAGUE INFORMATION

The Vancouver Island Hockey League (VIJHL) is now entering its 43rd season of operation. All 9 teams are based on Vancouver Island, making travel easier and rivalries intense. Playing 48 games (24 home, 24 away), the travel schedule is also appealing to many of the players enrolled in high school or post graduate courses as there are no over night road trips.
