Sharks IHC is one of the most recent clubs to join IHV and was first established in 1997, playing out of the Ringwood rink until its closure in 2003, before playing out of the Bayswater rink for the 12 months it was open until it closed in 2004. As with all other IHV clubs, Sharks IHC now plays and trains across all three Melbourne rinks at Docklands (O’Brien Icehouse), Oakleigh (Olympic Ice Skating) and Reservoir (IceHQ).
Recently IHV reorganised the senior winter competition to consist of a single checking division, Premier A for males only, and three non-checking divisions, Senior B, C, and D open to both males and females. Currently the Sharks enter a team in all four senior winter divisions having most recently captured the Premier A title in 2018.
Previously the Sharks have captured top division trophies in 2004 and 2010 (as part of a merged team, the Tigers, with Saints-Monarchs) and have captured reserves grade premierships in 2008 and 2009.
In the IHV summer competition the Sharks currently enter seven teams across all seven divisions, providing a great opportunity for new players to make an entry into the sport at a level appropriate to their skill level and also ample room to move up divisions as skills increase.
