The Williams Lake Timberwolves Junior “A” Hockey Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Dave Dupas (pron. Do’-paw) as its new Head Coach.  Dupas has signed a two year contract for the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 Seasons. 

Dupas brings to the Timberwolves more than 10 years of head coaching experience at the Junior “A”, Junior “B”, Semi-Pro, BC Major Midget and Bantam “AA” levels.  He most recently led the (Kelowna based) Okanagan Zone Major Midgets to a Third Place finish at the Provincial Finals. 

A native of Burnaby, BC, Dupas spent four years as a player in the BCJHL, twice named a First Team All-Star Defenceman with the New Westminster Royals.  He also played three seasons of NCAA Division I Hockey at North Arizona University and had professional stints with the Fresno Falcons, Orlando Typhoons, as well as the St. Louis Vipers of the Roller Hockey International League.

Timberwolves’ Majority Owner, John Wright, likes what Dupas brings to the table.

“Dave is a solid mentor, having had great success at all levels of his coaching career.  We’re very excited about having him onboard with the Timberwolves,” says Wright.  “He shares a similar coaching philosophy to that of both myself and General Manager Geoff Murdoch and knows what we hope to accomplish in our first season of play.”

Dupas assumes his new role in Williams Lake as of June 1st, 2009.
