The Williams Lake Timberwolves concluded their pre-season home schedule with a 2-1 setback to the Prince George Spruce Kings, Friday night at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.
Prince George got on the board first, with just 16 seconds remaining in the opening period.
After playing through a scoreless second, the Spruce Kings increased their lead to 2-0 by counting a shorthanded tally, just over six minutes into the final period.
The Timberwolves finally found the mark a short time later to make it interesting, but weren’t able to get the equalizer. Jake Harcoff was the lone Williams Lake goal scorer.
Prince George outshot the Timberwolves 31-25 overall in a contest which featured some chippy moments, including a pair of fights.
Williams Lake wraps up exhibition play with a Saturday night re-match against the Spruce Kings in Prince George, prior to opening the regular season at home next Friday night (September 11th) versus the Penticton Vees.
