KJHL Announces Award Nominees for Most Valuable Player!

KJHL Announces Award Nominees for Most Valuable Player!

Webmaster

The Keystone Junior Hockey League is proud to announce the nominees for the annual Most Valuable Player Award. This award is presented to the most valuable player in the league. Voting is done by all of the leagues teams. The nominees are as follows:

Chavez Constant, #19 OCN Storm - The OCN Storm captain showed why he was a leader this season. Starting the season on a torrid scoring pace, the defenseman finished the year with 29 goals, 28 assists for 57 points in 24 games. With one four goal game and two hat tricks, he will be relied on heavily in their playoff matchup against the NCN Flames.

Keistin Saunders, #10 NCN Flames - Keistin was a leader on and off the ice for his team this season. He not only led the Flames in scoring, but in the last game of the regular season, surpassed fellow nominee Lyle Murdock to win the KJHL scoring race as well. In 32 games, he put up a whopping 35 goals and 54 assists for 89 points. Putting up two four goal games in the regular season, he decided to take matters into his own hands in the final regular season contest and put up 6 goals and 8 assists to seal the scoring title. He will be leaned on in the playoffs as the Flames look to continue their hot streak winning the final six games of the regular season!

Lyle Murdock, #12 Peguis Juniors - Lyle came into this season looking to make an impact, and did just that. He amassed 37 goals and 50 assists in just 26 games to lead the Juniors in scoring and finish second in the league scoring race. In one of the best efforts of the season, in his final game he put up an amazing 5 goals and 9 assists. With numerous multi-point games throughout the season he also added one hat trick earlier in the season.

Congratulations and best of luck to the nominees!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Another hockey season is among us and I can’t express how excited we the KJHL are for another exciting season. A brief update on the KJHL, due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances, the Waywayseecappo Wild and the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Selects will be taking a leave of absence for 1 year and will be back next season.  Business will go on per usual and the KJHL will operate with 5 teams, OCN Storm, Peguis Juniors, NCN Flames, Norway House Northstars and Cross Lake Islanders. The season will kick off on October 5th in Peguis as the Juniors host the Cross Lake Islanders and also in Nisichawaysihk as the Flames host the Norway House Northstars.  Every team is looking like a contender this season which means exciting hockey games.  We look forward to seeing you at the KJHL games this season and good luck to all teams!
