The Canadian hockey world mourns the loss of Manitoba's Jack Forsyth who passed away yesterday and I would like to say a few words about the man who will always represent one of the biggest firsts for us.
I had met Jack at the Telus Cup a few times, but I never could have known that he would represent such an important milestone and nod of recognition and respect for the work we do here at MidgetAAACanada.com.
Jack was the first league executive to align his league, the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League, directly with ours on our MidgetAAACanada.com network.
It wasn't easy being the "new kid on the block" when we started and the day that Jack gave us the nod was a special one.
He listened to what I had to say about wanting to partner with the league to help Manitoba and Midget hockey, and he recognized that what we were doing WAS important and just said "yes", which was shockingly refreshing.
As someone who spent countless hours as a Head Coach for 12 years, which fueled my passion to create MidgetAAACanada.com and all of the time it has taken me in my life, I understand the excitement of being in minor hockey, but I also know how much time it takes to do what he did for so many years.
That's why my hat is tipped to Jack for all of the hard work and dedication he committed to hockey and most importantly the kids, parents and volunteers who make minor hockey so much FUN because that's what it's all about.
Our condolences go out to Jack's family. May all of the outpouring of support I'm sure you're getting from your minor hockey "family" be the strength that helps you through this tough time, but also as a reminder of how many people he touched with his generosity, with MidgetAAACanada.com on that list!
