AWARD WINNERS
2013-2014
The Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings took home three of the four Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League 2013-14 post-season awards announced Friday.
The Wheat Kings, with a record of 39-3-2, finished first to claim the League Championship Trophy and earn home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
Wheat King captain Duncan Campbell is the league’s top scorer for 2013-14. Campbell scored 39 goals and added 46 assists for 85 points in 44 games this season. Of those 39 goals, four were game winners.
Jordy Stallard of the Wheat Kings is this year’s winner of the league’s Most Gentlemanly Player Award. This honour is given to a player who shows both outstanding ability, while displaying a high level of sportsmanship. Stallard scored 28 goals and led the league in assists with 48 for 76 points and had just 22 penalty minutes over 44 games.
Winnipeg Wild’s Evan Johnson received the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League top goaltender award. Johnson had a record of 17 wins, 2 ties and 3 losses. He had an outstanding 1.32 GAA and .957 save percentage.
