Over the past two years, Jess has transformed the Renegades, rebranded the club and created an inclusive environment. Her leadership has been pivotal in regrowing the club after significant challenges, and she continues to inspire both players and the community.
Jess is incredibly proactive in promoting the Renegades, sharing club events and news at every opportunity. Her commitment to spreading the word is far-reaching. She ensures the Renegades have a strong presence both online and in the local area.
Her approach to leadership is hands-on. Under her guidance, the club has grown its Learn2Play program and hosted regular scrimmages. To attract new members, she has organized exhibition sessions at local schools, introducing young players to the sport and encouraging them to join the club. Her efforts have been instrumental in boosting player numbers and engagement.
Despite the lack of organized games in Lower North this year, Jess has worked tirelessly to find hockey opportunities for the Renegades. A notable example is the upcoming trip to Nelson during Labour Weekend, which Jess has meticulously planned, organizing all travel logistics, securing grant funding, and spearheading additional fundraising efforts, such as raffles and firewood sales, to make the trip more affordable for everyone involved.
Jess's efforts come when the Renegades are recovering from turmoil. She has faced the challenging task of rebuilding the club. Her ability to restore a positive and healthy culture is remarkable. Through her determination, community-mindedness, and passion for the sport, Jess Craw has not only revitalized the Renegades but has also embodied the heart of inline hockey in New Zealand.
