BILLET FAMILIES

BECOME A BILLET TODAY!

Every year the Coquitlam Express welcome 21 players from around Canada and the USA to the Lower Mainland. Their stay lasts anywhere from a single day to a whole season.

Are you interested in becoming a Billet?

Our players need a caring and safe invironment in which they feel at home. This takes time, patience, and a willingness to share on your behalf. You must be willing to understand that there could be lots of differences culturally and personally on both sides, and that in this process, you could make a new friend  for life.

What makes a great Billet?
Being a billet takes sensitivity and patience. You must understand that the player is away from their family and that this player is a unique individual, and that getting used to a new environment can be tough. The best way to overcome this awkward transition is for you to share your lifestyle in a positive, safe, and caring manner.

Make Time
Don't be afraid to make time to spend with your player. The player needs to feel like they are part of your family, and including them in your daily activities is essential to a caring environment in which
the player feels like they are at home.

What you can provide
- A private bedroom and closet
- Nutritious Meals
- Patient, Caring, and Safe atmosphere
- The same guidance and care that you would show for your children

What you will recieve
What you can expect to get out of being a billet is a first hand view of what it's like to be a Coquitlam Express player. You will see the problems that a player can face, as well as the triumph that one can have during the course of a hockey season. You also recieve the opportunity to make a difference in a young players life by being their home away from home. These relationships can last a life time! You will also recieve season tickets for your immediate family, a monthly stipend, and an invitation to the year end banquet.

How to Apply
The application process shows us who you are and if you would be a good fit for a young hockey player. We would like a written application, a personal interview in your home, and personal references from you.

If you have any questions please call             604 936 4625      , or email our billet coordinator at teresa@coquitlamexpress.ca. Please help us make the upcoming season a success, become a billet, and be a part of the team.
