Phoenix Flame Basketball: Team Chiropractor

Press Release - 3/12/07
The International Basketball League is excited to announce that Dr. John Casalino D.C. will become the Phoenix Flames team Chiropractor and trainer for the 2007 inaugural pro basketball season. Dr. Casalino, a local of the Camelback corridor since 1989, is excited about his opportunity to work with the Phoenix Flame professional basketball organization and their affiliated charities and community activities.

Dr. Casalino has been in private practice since 1985. After graduation he turned his sights into the health and performance of athletes and in 1994 he became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) which qualified him to work on our U.S. Olympic athletes. Over his tenure as a Chiropractic Sports Physician he has worked on various spring training baseball teams, most recently for the San Francisco Giants. He has also worked in the Arizona Football League as well as on various other team sports both organized and not. Many “weekend warriors” have also sought out the expertise of Dr. Casalino’s sports background.

The International Basketball League (IBL), in existence since 2005, has expanded their league to 24 teams with the announcement that a team from Phoenix will join the league for the 2007 season. The team will be owned by Phoenix native Steve Moss-Kelly, an alumnus of Brophy College Prep and Bowie State University. The Phoenix Flame, he said, are to have a red, white and black color scheme.

The Phoenix Flame will fill a void in the Valley for a minor league professional basketball team. A unique feature that distinguishes the IBL from other professional basketball leagues is the promise of a fast paced highly entertaining game. By allowing only one timeout per quarter, and reducing the time between plays with an immediate inbounds rule, IBL games are always enjoyable and high scoring. IBL teams average over 126 points per contest; and, just as important the games last only two hours.

The Phoenix Flame season starts on Friday, April 6th 2007 at 7:00 pm against the Las Vegas Stars at the “Mad House on McDowell”. For those of you who are new to the Valley the games will be held at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum located at 19th Avenue and McDowell. Ticket sales are on sale now and can be acquired at Ticketmaster for single game sales or at phxflame.com for season ticket sales. Ticket prices are very affordable to everyone and are only $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids. Complete season ticket sales are 75.00 for adults and 35.00 for kids. The IBL and the Phoenix Flame have deliberately kept their ticket prices this reasonable because they want to cater to the families and the kids of the valley. They realize that sporting events have become just too expensive and the tickets just too hard to get. Call for your seats early for the best seat selection.

One of the Phoenix Flames more recent roster acquisitions was the signing of former Phoenix Sun and Los Angeles Lakers star Cedric Ceballos. Mr. “point a minute man” as Phoenix Suns’ announcer Al McCoy would call him and former NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Champion is only one of many exciting players that the Phoenix Flame have on their roster. There are two convenient Chiropractic locations in the Valley; one at 1000 E Camelback Rd, on the northeast corner of 10th Street and Camelback Rd. The other is just south of Peoria on 35th Avenue.
