Mission Statement

The Phoenix Flame, an affiliate of the International Basketball League, is a new basketball team in the city of Phoenix.  As an affiliate of IBL, the Phoenix Flame is in a unique position to serve the city of Phoenix and its surrounding communities with a premiere basketball league focused on the enhancing the lives of youth and their families.  Our programs will offer families a special opportunity to become more than spectators in the lives of their youth. The Phoenix Flame will provide special programs to enable families to attend athletic program events that regardless of their ability to pay.  Our community outreach programs will serve its participants by shaping the lives of Arizona’s youth by developing:

·        their athletic skills sets to compete professionally,

·        their minds to become civic-minded citizens in their community and serve as role models for the peers,

·        and provide the opportunity for youth to become active in their community by serving as youth ambassadors in the Phoenix Flames’ educational and community outreach programs.

As a Corporate Sponsor.  Supporting the FLAME CHARITIES will provide an excellent way to give back to the community and support Arizona’s underserved youth and their families.  Become a contributor to the development of future of our youth by supporting their participation in array of athletic and academic programming developed by the FLAME CHARITIES. 

In exchange for your support the FLAME CHARITIES will provide a generous sponsor package highlighting your corporation.  Our programs include:

Flame Charities Scholarship Program.   Your donation will provide the financial resources for low-income, underserved Arizona youth to attend a college of their choice.  This unique scholarship program will give hope to the academic future of many young people.  Many well-deserved students have no other resources to support their desire to further their education and thereby improve their ability to excel in their adult lives.  Supporting this program will not only increase their chances to change their futures, it will provide the tools to expand the options for students to develop into successful and productive adults. 

Flame Charities School Sponsorship Program.  The FLAME CHARITIES will provide an opportunity for children’s charities and schools valley wide to attend special pregame/postgame events.  We invite corporations and foundations to sponsor the charity or school of their choice through the purchase of game packs (tickets, sports memorabilia, refreshments, etc) for underserved families.  During each home game the FLAME CHARITIES will host a special pregame/postgame celebration inviting program participants to interact with the sponsored charity or school.  The events will serve as a community outreach event by inviting charities and schools to become active program participants.

Flame Charities “Reading is Fundamental” Program.  The FLAME CHARITIES will provide the financial support to purchase books for students of low-income families.  In an effort to provide students the needed educational tools to excel in their studies the FLAME CHARITIES will distribute the financial resources to acquire needed reading materials. 

The “Reading is Fundamental” Program will also provide a variety of activities including:

·         distribution of books to children’s charities and schools

·         distribution of teaching materials for teachers of K-8 schools

• and PHOENIX FLAME players will visit schools on a monthly basis to present “Reading Timeouts” to school age children. 

 
 Flame Charities Summer Basketball Camp.   The FLAME CHARITIES will partner with the local Valley of the Sun YMCA to host basketball camps across the valley.  These special camps will recruit the participation of youth who ordinarily would not have access to a program or camp such as the FLAME CHARITIES Basketball Camp.  The program will make a special effort to solicit the recommendation of local schools to fill the program rosters with the most needy of youth for participation in this camp.  The FLAME CHARITIES will utilize this camp to build community relationships and provide a rewarding “confidence-building” experience for area youth.  At the end of camp season, participants will be involved in a special ceremony to mark their excellence achieved during this program.

Flame Charities Junior Basketball League.  The Flame Charities will host a junior basketball league with all its practices and games partnering with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Centers across the valley.  The program will be organized and staffed by the Phoenix Flame basketball team and will allow area boys and girls to experience a once in life time organized basketball league with actual games supervised by a professional basketball team.  The Flame Charities welcomes the opportunity to assist area youth in taking part in a learning experience to build self esteem and enhance their ability to become fair-minded  “team players” by modeling and encouraging  behavior changes through this special basketball league. 

Flame Charities Hospital Program.  The FLAME CHARITIES will bring hope and smiles to hundreds of the faces including young and old hospitalized residents.  PHOENIX FLAME players will make regular visits to area hospitals including Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Maricopa Medical Center and the Arizona Veteran’s Hospital.  During those visits the FLAME CHARITIES will deliver gift baskets with our team’s memorabilia including a family pass to the game of their choice.
