Northstars go down to visiting bears in final moments

With the score at 5-5 in the final minute, it was anyone’s game, with the Northstars going down to the Bears when they scored the game-winning goal with 33 seconds left on the clock.
 
Captain Liam Manwarring shared, “we’ve got to be better. I thought our start was good tonight, which has been something we’ve struggled with, so I thought we improved on that. But just like in Brisbane, we blew the lead, and we need to learn how to play with that advantage.”
 
“Now we’ll work on a couple of things pretty quickly to turn them around and learn to hold the fort down when we have a lead, especially as we head into finals.”
 
Northstars will get a playoff game at home on the 19^th of August, “It’s going to be massive for us, the crowd is like a seventh player on the ice, and we own them more than what they’ve seen in the last couple of weeks.”
 
“We have to take what we’ve learnt and turn it around pretty quickly as I believe we have the team to win this year, and we just need to improve on a few more things.”
 
Assistant Coach David Ferrari reflected, “We learnt a lot about the Bears and ourselves tonight. I think for 55 minutes we were a better team, and we battled through a lot of adversity which has been a goal of ours.”
 
“We need to stick with our processes whether it's 5v5, powerplay or penalty kill, but tonight we just couldn’t close out at the end. We got a little emotional, which we need to do a better job of, but credit goes to the Bears.”
 
Playing at home on the 19^th August, “it’s good to know where we’re going to be playing and it's going to be a big game for us. We know we deserve to be in the top four and we’re going to prove it that night.”
 
“We’re hoping for the best team we can get because to be the best, you need to beat the best. Its great to know it’s going to be played here in our rink, in front of our fans.”
 
The Northstars will be heading down the Coast to play the Rhinos on Sunday at 3.30pm.
