Braves alum Bear Hughes drafted by Capitals

Bear Hughes is a Washington Capital.

The Spokane Braves alum was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft Wednesday by the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions.

In a story on the Chiefs’ website, Hughes, who grew up just outside Spokane in Post Falls, Idaho, had a rookie campaign to remember. He scored 16 goals and added 31 assists for 47 points in 61 games, finishing the season ranked seventh among all WHL rookies in points, ninth in goals, tied for fourth in assists and fifth in shots on goal.
