Okanagan Lakers Name Captains, Prepare for Final Preseason Game

October 15th, 2021

The Okanagan Lakers have announced their leadership group for their inaugural season in the BCIHL.

The Lakers have named defenceman Adrian Van de Mosselaer as the franchise’s first Captain. A Kelowna B.C. local, Van de Mosselaer spent four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL before going onto a three-year stint with the Ontario Reign in the ECHL.

Completing the leadership group are forwards Tyson Mclean and Arik Breton as well as defenceman Issac Dutka. Mclean played three seasons across three Junior A leagues and resides from Calgary. Born in Sitsville, ON. Breton provides the team with over 200 games of experience at the Junior A level. Dutka, from West Kelowna, played three seasons locally for the Kelowna Chiefs of the KIJHL.

The Lakers wrap up preseason play with a matchup against Simon Fraser University

Saturday, October 16th. Gametime is 9:00 pm from CNC Arena in Kelowna.

This will be the Laker’s third meeting with the team from SFU. In the previous two games, the Lakers suffered a pair of losses. First, they fell 4-3 in a shootout down in Burnaby during a game that saw Marshal Porteous score all three of the Laker’s regulation time goals. In their next meeting, SFU skated away with a 5-1 win in a game hosted on neutral grounds in Merritt.

The games that count towards the standings start next weekend. The Lakers will head to Vancouver Island for battles against U-VIC and VIU.

Tickets for October 16th are available at www.okanaganlakers.com. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children under age 6 are free. Proof of double vaccination, secondary ID, and masks are required to enter.
