Wednesday Wrap Up - Week Five

Webmaster

Week five saw two games take place over the weekend. The OCN Storm opened their home portion of their schedule playing host to the NCN Flames.

Saturday's game would see a back and forth affair that would head all the way to a shootout that would see the NCN Flames skate away with two points. NCN would get goals from Vernon Grieves, Curtis Shamanski, Isiah Spence and Armando Evans. The Storm would respond with goals from Pierce Beardy, Troy Head and Thomas Martin with two. Flames starter Braedin Melstad would continue to backstop the Flames in making 57 saves in the win. Nolan Sinclair Jr. would be dealt the loss in net for the Storm making 46 saves in the losing effort.

Sunday's action would see another close game. The Storm would get the game winner off the stick of captain Chavez Constant late in the second and get an insurance marker from Pierce Beardy on the powerplay to skate them to a 4-2 win. Damon Constant and William Young would also score for the Storm, who would get 36 saves from Nolan Sinclair Jr. NCN would see Sam MacDonald and Armando Evans score goals while Landon Hofer would skate away with the loss making 38 saves.

Week six action kicks off on Thursday with the Cross Lake Islanders travelling west to take on the OCN Storm on Thursday November 11. Puck drop is at 7:00pm at the Roy H. Johnston Arena in The Pas. Saturday action will see the NCN Flames head south to take on the Peguis Juniors. Game time Saturday is at 7:30pm, with a rematch on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm.
