The Keystone Junior Hockey League Executive and Board of Governors are proud to announce the League's Top Defenseman Award winner for the 2022-2023 season. The Top Defenseman award is bestowed upon an individual determined to be the top defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-around ability in the position during the regular season.
The winner of the 2022-2023 Top Defenseman Award is Chavez Constant of the OCN Storm. Overage team captain Chavez Constant led the OCN Storm in scoring during the regular season. Constant put up 32 goals and 45 assists for 77 points in 30 games. His 12 powerplay goals helped quarterback a lethal powerplay to the Bruce Sinclair Trophy as the regular season champion. After dispatching the NCN Flames in the semi-finals in an exciting 5 games that saw Constant put up 7 points, they fell to the Peguis Juniors in the League Championship series. He didn't let that get the team down for too long, then leading the Storm to a Central Canada Cup title in the revived interprovincial playoff between the KJHL and LJHL.
Congratulations once again to Chavez Constant of the OCN Storm!
