Okanagan Lakers Atop the BCIHL

Okanagan Lakers Atop the BCIHL

BCIHL Media

The Okanagan Lakers find themselves atop the BCIHL after a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign, picking up 5 of a possible 6 points through 3 games. The Lakers opened their season at home against the VIU Mariners, falling 4-3 in overtime but seeing an exceptional goaltending performance from 2nd year Laker and UVIC transfer Daniel Paul, stopping 44 of 48 shots.

A week later, the Lakers would take down UVIC 4-2 while outshooting the Vikes 37-28, and picking up one more win against the Logan Lake Miners by a score of 4-0 the following night.

Rookie Nolan Corrado has led the way with 3 goals in 3 games, while Kyle Bailey and Josh Dalquist both added 3 points in 2 games.

The Lakers will face VIU, the only BCIHL team without a loss, again on October 15th in a grudge match against the 2nd place Mariners. Puck drop is at 6:30pm at the Capital News Centre in Kelowna, and the game will be streamed on HockeyTV.
