History Lesson

In a previous week, I mentioned about the Wild Goose All Stars playing other countries in exhibition play. Today we’ll be looking at the 1965 battle at Kindersley’s exhibition stadium between the All Stars and the West German squad. Not much is known about this international team (other than it's the national men's team), but this appears to be stop 12 of the 12 game Canadian tour. The game ended in a 5-5 tie in front of 3,000 fans. All Star goals were scored by Bob Marik of Biggar (2), Jim Raisbeck & Orest Palahicki of Wilkie, and Keith Robson of Kindersley. German goal scorers were Rudolf Groger (2), Bernd Kuhn, Heinz Weisenbach and Siefrid Schubert. All Star goaltending was shared by Chuck Newmeyer and Don Cowan. Note: The Wild Goose this year has teams from Wilkie, Kindersley, Biggar, Unity, Leader and Swift Current.
